On the afternoon of April 26, 2022, the consumer goods department of the Ministry of industry and information technology entrusted the China Packaging Federation to hold a review meeting on the amendment No. 1 of the national standard GB23350-2021 "requirements for restricting excessive packaging of goods, food and cosmetics". The meeting was held online. The Deputy Secretary General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation was invited to attend the meeting as an expert member of the review meeting.

In combination with the contents of GB23350-2009 "food and cosmetics with restrictions on excessive packaging of goods", the Deputy Secretary General of CBCGDF, based on years of experience in biodiversity protection and green development at home and abroad, made an in-depth exposition on the number of packaging layers, packaging materials and packaging costs in the amendment.

The vast majority of mahogany are endangered plant species. The state has laws and regulations and needs to be used legally. After obtaining the permission, it can be cut down for use, but it will cause waste as packaging material in actual use. It should be stopped in recommended national standards and advocated correct practices. According to the requirements of green and low carbon, we should oppose excessive packaging and eliminate luxury packaging. The packaging materials of moon cakes and zongzi should not use precious metals and mahogany materials.
