On July 29th, representatives of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) went to China Association for Standardization (CAS) to participate in the on-site defense meeting of 2019 The Defense of CAST’s Society Public Service Capacity Enhancement Project organized by the Chinese Association of Science and Technology (CAST). At present, the two sub-projects submitted by the CBCGDF have already passed the first round of material evaluation of this project.

On June 27th this year, the Chinese Association of Science and Technology (CAST) issued the “2019 The Notice on the Application for the Promotion of the Public Service Capability of the Society” to the national association, the society, the secretariat of the association and the departments of the association of science and technology of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities (hereinafter referred to as the “Notice”). According to the “Notice”, in order to carry out the spirit of the Nineteenth National Congress’s Second and Third Plenary Sessions of the Nineteenth Central Committee of the CPC, and in accordance with the overall plan of the “Service Development Year” of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology, the associations should be guided to actively participate in the “Million” service area development activities, mobilize and organize national science and technology workers to advance into the main battlefield of economic construction, and at the same time play a better role in promoting technological and economic integration and serving the country’s social governance. Therefore, the China Association of Science and Technology (CAST) has organized a special project on 2019 Society Public Service Capacity Enhancement Project.

The sub-projects collected by t2019 Society Public Service Capacity Enhancement Project are divided into four directions, namely, the Group Standard Demonstration Society (Project No. 2019GGFZ-CN01), The Internationalization of Science and Technology Awards (Project No. 2019GGFZ-CN02), the Society's Normalization of Government Transfer Functions (Project No. 2019GGFZ-CN03), and the Society's Public Service Theory Research and Support (Project No. 2019GGFZ-CN04).

After careful research and active preparation, the CBCGDF declared two sub-projects to the Chinese Association of Science and Technology: CBCGDF’s “Eco-civilization and Green Development Series Award" in the direction of “Science and Technology Award Internationalization”, and “the Green Meeting Index (GMI) Group Standards” in the direction of “Group Standards Demonstration Society". By the end of July, the two sub-projects declared by the CBCGDF had passed the first round of material preliminary examination. On July 29th, the CBCGDF's "Eco-civilization and Green Development Series Award" participated in the day's on-site defense along with other first-round entries.

The aim of the CBCGDF is to protect biodiversity and promote green development. Since the foundation was established, in order to continuously and deeply promote green development and ecological civilization construction, the CBCGDF has accumulated a lot of practical experience in exploring internationalization of scientific and technological awards, as well as advocating and formulating green standards.

For example, in 2017, in order to promote the application of green technology, green materials, green energy, and green equipment, as the main participant, the CBCGDF jointly with the World Green Design Forum, organized the Global Green Design Award, which has been held three times. In 2017, in order to commend and motivate innovative talents in the field of global green development and high-tech innovation, the CBCGDF and Silicon Valley Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum (SVIEF) jointly launched the Global Green Development Innovation Award, which affected dozens of countries and directly involved millions of domestic and international people. In June this year, on the basis of collecting expert opinions and careful preparation, the Green Meeting Index (GMI) Group Standard was launched, which is aiming at implementing the spirit of the Nineteenth Congress of green development through specific meeting indicators and promoting the establishment of conservation-oriented organs, green families, green schools and green communities.

According to the notice of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology (CAST), the second sub-project “Green Meeting Index (GMI) Group Standard” applied by the CBCGDF will participate in the second round of on-site defense on August 1st.
