Recently, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) received a letter from Director Ma of the CBCGDF China Conservation Area for spotted seals at Lvshun (CCAfa). The letter pleasantly shared the news with CBCGDf that this CCAfa site has been established formally. This site embodies the hard work of the volunteers’ team under the leadership of Director Ma and the guidance of CBCGDF. This conservation area has specially established an animal protection base for scientific education in the fields of animal protection and ecological protection. This is CBCGDF's 120th CCAfa site and the 4th CCA for spotted seals. CBCGDF highly anticipates the completion of the animal protection base when the spotted seals cruise to the Yellow-Boihai Sea in China. Combined with rigorous field patrols, the CCAfa at Lvshun will be a paradise for spotted seals.

Congratulations on the CBCGDF China Conservation Area for Spotted Seals at Lvshun’s Plaque Unveiled Officially

In July, the fire broke out. With the official unveiling of the plaque of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) China Conservation Area for spotted seals at Lvshun, Director Ma Honghe of the CCAfa site leads the volunteers to start a series of construction work for the animal protection base in Yanshun’s Shuangdao Yantian.

This animal protection base is not only for the CBCGDF China Conservation Area for spotted seals at Lvshun, China Conservation Area for Oriental stork at Lvshun, Dalian Lvshunkou Wild Birds Protection Association the three organizations to protect migratory birds and marine life, but also for conducting public science education such as animal protection and ecological protection. It is high anticipated that the volunteers from this CCAfa site to provide valuable and operational advice on the construction and operation of the base! The work currently being carried out includes:

1. The leveling work of the site and road of the Yantian wetland in Shuangdao. Work vehicles such as forklifts and excavators have entered the site construction, and the previous potholes have been refilled. The leveled site will be used to construct observation points and science bases. At the same time, the roads in the protected area have been widened and flattened, which facilitates the daily commuting of the staff.

2. Work on sewage and garbage disposal in the conservation area. Due to the discharge of industrial sewage in the protected area, director Ma built drains and dams to redirect the sewage, so that the sewage bypassed the inside of the area and reduced water pollution to it. At the same time, the garbage in the area was cleaned up, and the wild animals have a clean habitat.

3. Security and other work in the conservation area. A guard room was built at the entrance of the CCAfa site. The warning sign of the CCAfa was set up around the area, and several volunteers were arranged to take turns to prevent the entry of outsiders for fishing or catching up the sea, thus effectively protecting the resources in the area. It will reduce the environmental damage in the protected area, so that more wild animals will be inhabited there in the future.

The construction of this CCAfa site is inseparable from the support and help of people from all walks of life who are passionate about environmental protection, such as China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and Dalian Lvshunkou Wild Birds Protection Association. Director Ma expressed his sincere gratitude for this and hoped that everyone would give valuable advice on the future construction of this CCAfa site.
