On March 24, amid the expectations of many volunteers, Talina, a spotted seal girl of CBCGDF and Sandaogou National Nature Reserve in mouth of Liao River, Liaoning Province, held a field release of spotted seals. At the scene, more than 70 people, including representatives of relevant departments, volunteers and media reporters in Panjin City, witnessed the process of "gushing" marching bravely forward, bringing everyone's wishes and expectations to the sea and returning to home.
According to the saver of “Gousheng” and director Tian Zhiwei of "China Conservation Area for Waterfowl at Tangshan" (CBCGDF), Gousheng show its nature as wildlife from the cub until gradually adapting to training pools of wild release, and self-hunting fish. Although we have carried out artificial rescue, we still remember that "Gousheng" belongs to the ocean and nature, and it will achieve the greatest value.
"Gousheng" is a luckily spotted seal, who was, unfortunately, "lost" during the journey, but luckily met Director Tian Zhiwei. After more than a month of rescue and feeding, this spotted seal increased from 27 kg to 31.5 kg. It grows well and is able to catch fish independently. According to experts' assessment, the condition for its wild release is mature. If too much contact with humans, it’s not conducive to its independent life after returning to the sea. After discussing with the directors of China Conservation Area sites in Tangshan, Dalian, Panjin, and Yingkou of CBCGDF, this paper analyzed the gathering sites of spotted seals, and carefully decided to implement the "gousheng" wild release activities at the mouth of Liaohe River in Panjin City, Liaoning Province.
First of all, Ms. Xu Yuhong, from Panjin Natural Resources Bureau, gave a speech, pouring all wishes and expectations into the "gushing" in the hope that it would be healthy and lucky all the time, and expecting that it and the spotted seal family would meet on the small island of Panjin.
CBCGDF expects to promote the public's attention to wildlife protection and wildlife release through this campaign, establish the ideological principle of "wild release as normal, no wild release as an exception", let the public know and clearly understand the importance of wild release. The release is the ultimate value of wildlife rescue.
