CBCGDF Proposal on wild panda protection attracts attention from CPPCC member

On 16 January, CBCGDF held the preparing meeting on proposals to the Two Sessions. CPPCC members, researchers, university presidents attended the meeting. In the meeting, nearly ten environment NGOs presented their proposals in the meeting.

 

In the meeting, Mr. Li YongZheng, Director of China Conservation Area for Pandas at Conglingang introduced the meaning of “wild pandas”, the distribution status, conflicts between community and wild pandas, and measures to protect wild pandas.

 

The proposal is comprised of five parts. First, protection and development policy for wild pandas and their habitat should be improved. Second, protection and administration system led by the government shall be advanced. Third, pilot projects for wild pandas should be launched. Fourth, wild panda-friendly communities for better conservation should be set up. Fifth, a fund for wild pandas and their habitats is suggested built for research and talent development.

 

The proposal on protecting wild pandas and their habitats received extensive attention from CPPCC members, specialists, and media. They all exchanged perspectives and suggestions to Mr. Li.

 

Zhou Jinfeng, Director-General of CBCGDF, added later that a CPPCC member agreed to submit the proposal after thorough research and modification.

 

In the afternoon, the team of China Conservation Area for Pandas at Conglingang visited CBCGDF for further discussion on protection strategy, scientific research, domestic and international promotion, and fund set.
