Every year, during the migration season of birds, you can always see spectacular herds of birds flying in the sky, what an amazing view to see! However, behind these wonders are different realities-poisoning, 100-meter bird nets, and sly poaching.

At the peak of the migration, the volunteers of the China Conservation Area (CCAfa) of CBCGDF stand on the first front of the wildlife protection by patrolling, rescuing and anti-poaching, etc.

On 20 November, Director Song of China Conservation Area for the Great Bustard at Changyuan announced that there is a great quantity of poisonous bait covering several kilometers long in Fengqiu, Henan, an important wintering are for the Great Bustard. A few years ago, over 300 Great Bustards could be found there, while there were only about 100 of them being found. To tackle this situation, volunteers of the protected area went on site to clear the deadly bait, wishing the pertinent government will pay more attention to it by conducting more patrolling and more mainstreaming activities.

Knowing the situation of Changyuan protected area, Director Yu said, “After a month, poisoning bait will be found here too”

On 21st November, Wang Xiaolan, the director of China Conservation Area for White Crane at Baiyangdian, received a phone call, claiming there was a bird net along Xiong County. Xiaolan immediately advanced to the site and confirmed the case, saving one falco tinnunculus after removing the trap.
