On April 14, 2020, the secretary of the Lvshunkou District Party Committee, along with the leaders of the committees, streets, villages, etc., went to the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Community Conservation Areas for Oriental stork at Lvshun and for spotted seal at Lvshun, and held a symposium with the staff and volunteers from the two CCAfa sites.

Director Leng of the Community Conservation Area for Oriental stork at Lvshun reported on the origin of the conservation area, how the CCAfa site carried out bird rescue work, and the development idea of the conservation area. The secretary of the district committee of Lvshunkou expressed his affirmation of the construction work of the conservation area site, encouraged the protection of wetlands, and to protect birds and the environment well.

Since the Oriental storks overwintered in Lvshun in 2010, there are more than 100 Oriental storks staying there for the winter every year. Led by Director Leng of CBCGDF Community Conservation Area for Oriental stork at Lvshun, local villagers also cherish the arrival of these rare birds. They spontaneously established a bird protection team. Before the Oriental storks flew, the team members were responsible for breeding and managing shrimp ponds in the salt farm, the proceeds were used to purchase anchovies for the Oriental storks.

After entering the winter, as soon as the Oriental storks appeared, the team members began to be busy, not only to observe and record every day, and to provide timely rescue and daily feeding. In the past ten years, Leng Wanjun, the director of the Zhangjiacun Village Committee, has invested a lot of manpower and material resources to rescue the Oriental storks, devoting unlimited efforts to protecting the endangered birds.

After this, it became a bird's paradise. In order to protect these long-distance migratory birds, the volunteer team, under the leadership of Ma Honghe, the Director of CBCGDF Community Conservation Area for spotted seal at Lvshun, specially built an animal protection base for birds to carry out animal protection, ecological protection and other popular science education activities.

At the beginning of this year, two red-crowned cranes, which are nationally protected animals, also went there with New Year's blessings. It was the first time that red-crowned cranes have been discovered in Dalian in nearly 20 years. The arrival of the red-crowned cranes further illustrates the excellent nature of the conservation areas today.
