In October 2019, when Acer pentaphyllum was in full swing, a case filed by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) aimed at protecting this endangered species was heard. Acer pentaphyllum, originally due to its "living fossil" property, has attracted much attention in the botanical world. However, with the development and construction of a hydropower station, its original habitat was facing a catastrophic disaster. In 2015, CBCGDF Filed an environmental public interest litigation (EPIL) and carried out ex situ conservation research in Tianshui and other places in Gansu Province. China Conservation Area for Acer pentaphyllum at Tianshui (CCAfa) was established. As a result, Acer pentaphyllum has attracted attention in the public welfare and judicial circles.

In 2019, with the support of the CBCGDF, a number of works in the CCAfa site has steadily advanced:

Planting area of Acer pentaphyllum further expanded.

With the growing number of Acer pentaphyllum growing in the conservation area, the CCAfa site has been actively raising funds to expand the planting area of Acer pentaphyllum. In 2019, more than 100,000 yuan was invested in the conservation area, and a new breeding area of 20 mu of Acer pentaphyllum was added, bringing the planting area of Acer pentaphyllum to more than 30 mu. In addition, the conservation area has also set up a care base in the new breeding area, which can become a place for volunteers in the future.

Acer pentaphyllum debuted at Beijing 2019 International Horticultural Exposition.

In June 2019, with the support of the Beijing Botanical Garden, the Acer pentaphyllum presented by the CBCDGF China Conservation Area for Acer pentaphyllum at Tianshui was unveiled at the Beijing World Horticultural Exposition, and won the bronze prize in the indoor exhibit competition of the scientific research institute of the Exposition. The display of Acer pentaphyllum attracted a lot of public attention and played a key role in promoting the spread of endangered plant protection stories.

The Tianshui Five-foliolate Plant Protection Institute was established.

With the support of the relevant departments of Tianshui City and the efforts of the Five-foliolate Protection Team, at the end of 2019, the Tianshui Five-foliolate Plant Protection Institute was officially registered. The Institute will carry out research, protection and publicity of endangered plants under the guidance of Tianshui Science and Technology Bureau.

The CBCGDF China Conservation Area for Acer pentaphyllum at Tianshui was featured on many media.

In 2019, the plant protection work of this CCAfa site was reported by many media. These reports greatly promoted the public's understanding of the critically endangered species Acer pentaphyllum and played an important role in spreading plant protection in the construction of ecological civilization.

2020, these things have to be worked hard on.

In 2020, the CBCGDF China Conservation Area for Acer pentaphyllum at Tianshui will continue to focus on the practice and dissemination of plant protection, strive for more social cooperation and exchanges, further expand the achievements of protection of Acer pentaphyllum, and further spread the stories about the protection of Acer pentaphyllum, to attract more people to participate in the protection of endangered plants.
