Recently, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) signed an agreement with the project departments of relevant United Nations agencies. This also means that the CBCGDF's project of "Construction of Spotted Seals Marine Conservation Area Network in the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea" has been officially certified and supported by relevant United Nations parties.
Then how to complete this project better? The CBCGDF decided that all the conservation area forces in the joint project area should participate together.
Up to now, the CBCGDF has established more than 20 Community Conservation Areas (CCAfa) in the offshore areas of the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea, mainly focusing on species rescue and protection, including spotted seal. The broad participation of the people is the key to species conservation.
In the incidents of spotted seal cub being stolen at the beginning of this year, the CBCGDF has formed a joint rescue participation in several CCAfa; in the process of rescue and wild release of the cub “Gosheng”, remote guidance from experts and cross-regional joint wild release were realized; in the process of reporting illegal spotted seal and the propaganda of the protection of spotted seal, the work has been comprehensively covered in various CCAfa of the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea.
Then how can the CCAfa in the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea participate in this project together and in-depth? The CBCGDF proposed: set up the Spotted Seal Science Popularization Activity Group!
【Spotted Seal Science Popularization Activity Group】
Participation: Participating in the CBCGDF's Spotted Seal Science Popularization Activity Group, whether, on campus, community or organizing outdoor activities, as long as the protection of Spotted Seals is the theme of publicity and education, can be included in the Spotted Seal Science Popularization Activity Group's series of activities. The CBCGDF will rank according to the number of popular science events held and the number of participants.
Ranking Method: the number of activities held - 80%, the number of participants - 20%, the data of the two aspects are added together, and the groups in the CCAfa are ranked as the unit.
Participants: All CCAfa in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea area can apply for participation.
【Reward Information】
The CBCGDF will offer the following awards to the top 4 CCAfa based on the ranking result:
1. Establishing the “Popular Science Center for Spotted Seal Conservation Area” and sponsor a set of projection equipment;
2. Giving a certain number of popular science books of “Spotted Seals on the Broken Ice”;
3. Giving a certain number of spotted seal dolls;
4. Giving priority support to the later scientific popularization and protection activities of the spotted seal.
