Tianjin Customs Anti-Smuggling Bureau Replied to CBCGDF on Information Disclosure on the Smuggling of Sandalwood Incident

After learning that Xingang Customs, which belongs to Tianjin Customs, seized a batch of goods that Sandalwood was disguised as declared as fir, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attaches great importance to this incident involving smuggling of endangered species, and on September 18, 2019, separately submitted the public information disclosure applications to the Tianjin Customs Anti-smuggling Bureau and Tianjin Xingang Customs Private Branch about the relevant information on the specific time, quantity, variety and type of goods, third-party appraisal, case handling, and progress of the falsely reported goods seized this time.

 

On September 26, CBCGDF received a reply from the Tianjin Customs Anti-smuggling Bureau on the application for disclosure of relevant case. The reply stated that the case was in the investigation stage and could not be made public. After the administrative penalty decision takes effect and meets the public requirements, it can be inquired from the Tianjin Customs Portal online. For follow-up information, CBCGDF will continue to pay attention to the progress of this incident.
