On November 1, 2018, the mandatory national standard for “The Enhance the Administration of the Construction of Synthetic Materials Track Surface in Primary and Secondary Schools" was officially implemented.

 

Plastic tracks are popular in Chinese schools as they help reduce the chances of injury in exercises. Since 2012, a total of 552 plastic play field have been built and 113 current under construction in Jiangsu. A dozen cases of nose bleeding, dizziness and rash happened among primary school students and the smelly new plastic track was suspected by the government to be the reason.

 

In the “The Enhancement of the Administration of the Construction of Synthetic Materials Track Surface in Primary and Secondary Schools’ released by Ministry of Education, it indicates that to improve the construction of Synthetic Materials Track Surface, all local education administrative department shall push forward the publication of the file, build a better long-term and effective the administration mechanism, enhance the supervision and inspection so as to make sure every student and faculty’s health.

 

This is another positive result brought by CBCGDF with the means of Environmental Public Interest Litigation. The case not only addressed the root cause of children’s health, but also of the pollution on the air and the soil.
