Beijing People's Procuratorate Visited CBCGDF to Explore Cooperation Mechanism for Public Interest Litigation

Recently, the prosecutors of the eighth procuratorate of the Beijing People's Procuratorate visited China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and discussed with the Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF on the establishment of a normal communication and collaboration mechanism to jointly do good public interest litigation in the field of ecological environment and resource protection . The Procuratorate also solicited opinions from CBCGDF on the exposure draft of the "Opinions on Strengthening Collaboration and Cooperating to Promote Public Interest Litigation Work Mechanisms", hoping that CBCGDF would provide more reference recommendations for its further revision. The Procuratorate also inquired and learned about clue discovery, investigation and evidence collection of CBCGDF in environmental public interest litigation (EPIL), as well as some practices and experiences of the lawyer team.

 

The Deputy Secretary-General introduced in detail of the exploration of EPIL in China, combined with CBCGDF’s practical work in the field of EPIL from the source of the cases, the standardized review before filing, and the EPIL analysis team, etc. In addition, he introduced the typical and representative cases filed by CBCGDF, including cultural relics protection, indoor public place tobacco control, preventive, public interest litigation, etc., and the positive role played by the cases on biodiversity conservation, tackling climate change, reducing takeaway garbage pollution and other aspects.

 

Through this meeting, both parties hope to strengthen cooperation in the field of public interest litigation and jointly contribute to the construction of ecological civilization.
