As the Global Issues said, a major report, the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, released in March 2005 highlighted a substantial and largely irreversible loss in the diversity of life on Earth, with some 10-30% of the mammal, bird and amphibian species threatened with extinction, due to human actions.
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) added that Earth is unable to keep up in the struggle to regenerate from the demands we place on it.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) notes in a video that many species are threatened with extinction. In addition, at threat of extinction is 1 out of 8 birds.
Recently, Handan Division of the North China Environment Frontline and the volunteers for wetland ecological protection in Baiyangdian, Hebei organized an activity among students to share them common knowledge about birds and about how to protect and rescue the birds.
In the activity, they handed out fliers, delivered lectures and held meetings to communicate with faculties and students. Students reacted actively and were intrigued by the birds.
The activity is an action to mainstream biodiversity among the future leaders, the youth. More youth volunteers have also applied to be the volunteer team of CBCGDF to protect the precious species.
However, urgent actions must be taken to combat poaching, hunting, illegal trading. It requires the whole society to participate.
