Time flies, after participating in last year's event, on June 26th, the representative from China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) participated in the 4th Technology Diplomats’ Innovation Resources Matchmaking Event (2019) in Beijing. This event is hosted by Beijing Technology Exchange & Promotion Center and China International Technology Transfer Center.
Under the trend of global economic integration, scientific and technological innovation cooperation is the fundamental way to address global issues such as climate change and natural disasters. President Xi Jinping once emphasized that science and technology are world-wide and contemporary, and that the development of science and technology must have a global vision, not to reject the flow of people, and to be a river. Independent innovation is an innovation in an open environment. The door must not be closed, but to gather the strength of the world and borrow the power of all parties.
Innovation is an important force to promote development. In particular, the current “One Belt, One Road” initiative has been recognized and supported by more and more countries. The “One Belt, One Road” initiative has been widely welcomed by the international community. The important content of building the “Belt and Road” will play an active role in improving people's livelihood, promoting development, and coping with common challenges.
Currently, the 14th G20 Leaders Summit is being held in Osaka, Japan. On this occasion, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of CBCGDF has just accepted an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency (see details:) to talk about “’the power of civil society’ helps G20 Summit and builds an ecological civilization together”. As a leading non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, CBCGDF will adhere to the “going out, inviting in” approach. “Civil society organizations are actively ‘going out’ and strengthening the expansion of the civil international exchanges is a necessary work to tell the Chinese story.” Dr. Zhou pointed out in the interview. He said that in the past few years, Chinese civil society organizations have actively participated in international cooperation and exchanges and have made contributions in environmental protection, ecological civilization construction, and biodiversity conservation on the international stage, and gain broad international recognition.
Dr. Zhou also said that the work carried out by civil society organizations, including supervisory work, has enabled the international community to see China's open attitude towards the participation of civil society organizations in environmental and biodiversity conservation, and to give very high marks. Dr. Zhou expressed the hope that more social organizations can participate in the construction of ecological civilization, and also hope that local government departments and enterprises will give more understanding and support to the civil environmental protection organizations.
After one whole day’s event, the outstanding feeling was that this year’s “Technology Diplomats’ Innovation Resources Matchmaking Event” keeps pace with the times and is highly consistent with the current domestic and international political and economic climate, echoing the rapid changes of the times and technology. Guests who attended the event and made keynote speeches included counsellors and representatives from France, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Lithuania, Iran, Portugal, Japan, the European Union and other countries and regional embassies and institutions in China, science and technology innovation, business and other fields. Through keynote sharing and round-table discussions, each guest introduced the latest state of science and technology development in their respective countries, scientific and technological innovation resources, as well as preferential policies, for the intention to "go out" enterprises to provide a great reference and help. Through the docking of information and scientific and technological innovation resources, the embassies and institutions of various countries in China will carry out effective exchanges and communication with the Chinese innovation institutions, promote the sharing of information on technologies, projects, and scientific and technological conditions, and promote more practical cooperation between Beijing and international parties.
CBCGDF relies on its own professional characteristics and resource advantages to innovate and promote the sustainable development of ecology and green. On the one hand, CBCGDF is at the forefront of the world's scientific and technological innovation perception, leading the world's latest development trend, paying attention to the latest innovations in the world; on the other hand, as CBCGDF promotes the “Ecological ‘Belt and Road’ initiative (EBRs), and laid foundation in the environmental public interest litigation (EPIL) and other areas, has applied new concepts such as blockchain, Internet, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to biodiversity conservation work and accumulated experience. At the same time, CBCGDF has cooperated with domestic and foreign food, finance and other fields to explore the application of big data and blockchain technology to public welfare undertakings, use technology to support the credit system, ensure data authenticity, and establish a secure credit system.
CBCGDF has officially become a member of the Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network and has joined the China's green leadership “’Belt and Road’ Green Development Platform”. Since the “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRs) was proposed, CBCGDF has actively deepened multi-bilateral dialogues, exchanges and cooperation with international organizations and organizations along the route, strengthened support services for ecological environment information, promoted environmental standards, technology and industrial cooperation, and made progress. In order to further strengthen the eco-environment cooperation and give play to the service, support and guarantee role of eco-environment in the “Belt and Road” initiative, CBCGDF proposed the “Ecological 'Belt and Road' initiative” (EBRs).
Ecological environmental protection is an important part of "EBRs". CBCGDF also puts forward the initiative of “One Belt, One Road, People's Hearts”, calling on enterprises to take the initiative to undertake social responsibility for sustainable development. CBCGDF is willing to do a good job of communication between China's "going out" enterprises and the institutions and organizations related to eco-environmental protection and green development in the countries along the “Belt and Road”. To more and better respond to social organizations going out and serving the “Belt and Road” and the spirit of a community of shared future for mankind, to provide ecological and environmental consulting services for overseas construction projects.
Make still further progress. CBCGDF will continue to promote the EBRs, fully integrate the concept of ecological civilization, strengthen international cooperation in ecological environment, promote the concept of ecological civilization and green development in the “Belt and Road” initiative, and strengthen the international community in ecological environmental protection. Communicate and jointly carry out various forms of public welfare activities in the fields of eco-environmental protection and biodiversity conservation and promote the green “Belt and Road” to communicate with the people.
