On 24 April, China Matters interviewed the Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, for a videos project production highlighting the environmental progress that China is making. CBCGDF is considered as an organization pushing forward the environmental protection which is still seen as an area of weakness by some countries. This production is made to showcase the rest of the world that China is tackling important issues in an effective way and quite often China is actually playing a leading role throughout the process.

During the interview, Dr. Zhou shared the reasons that he got to be the head of such an essential foundation, and how CBCGDF got started. He expressed his passion for conservation. He believes that the mission of CBCGDF should focus on public participation and raising public awareness. In the meantime, he shared the working efforts and progress by CBCGDF on pangolins conservation and environmental public interest litigation (EPIL). Dr. Zhou believes that the missoin of CBCGDF is to solve urgent issues such as addressing illegal trade on wildlife and plastic pollution.
