CITES COP18 Comes | CBCGDF Prepares

China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will participate in the 18th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP) to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) as an observer. The CITES CoP18 is scheduled to be held from May 23 to June 3 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. CBCGDF has received the official approval from Office of Endangered Species Management of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.

 

CITES is a multilateral treaty, with the aim of controlling international trade in specimens of wildlife and making the species in the wild sustainable. It is held every four years. The upcoming CITES CoP18 will be held in the South Asia country for the first time, and Siri Lanka will be an attraction for its unique and rich biodiversity.

 

CBCGDF has received permission from the Secretariat to hold two side events on the CITES CoP18, with the topics of pangolin conservation and the effect brought by infrastructures on wildlife respectively. The side events will focus on how to apply advanced modern technologies into practice and provide better solutions to wildlife protection. Representatives are welcome to attend the side events and join us to discuss the solutions to endangered wildlife protection and combat illegal wildlife trade.
