On the occasion of the 2019 World Food Day, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is invited by one of our international colleagues from the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM - Organics International), who wanted to develop a campaign to encourage people to eat more sustainably, to share a meaningful message.

We are on a mission to get the world to eat more sustainable. We want people to enjoy more organic, seasonal, local, fair trade and plant-based food than ever before. Because it’s good for them, the planet and the people who produce it. We will achieve this through a global campaign run by partners, organizations around the world who believe that eating sustainably can make the world better.

The campaign was started by IFOAM – Organics International in 2019. Now, retailers, consumer and producers all over the world are joining the Honest Food movement.

We live in a world where food is messed around with. It’s produced using harmful chemicals that damage our health, wildlife and the environment. It’s packed in plastic and unnecessarily shipped around the world. Farmers the world over are not making a decent living. Access to quality food and proper nutrition is not a reality for millions of people worldwide. Unsustainable agriculture is contributing to global warming, contaminating soil, threatening rural livelihoods as well as food & nutrition security.

But things are changing. And so is the way we eat. More and more people are choosing Honest Food.

A recent report has shown organic agriculture can help shape a transition to sustainable food systems and contribute to sustainable development. Done right, agriculture can contribute to food and nutrition security, generate decent incomes, and protect the environment.
