[Editor’s Note:] In the first half of this year, a series of work on pangolin rescue, rehabilitation and wilderness carried out by the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) in Guangdong has temporarily finished. With unremitting efforts, the work has achieved great results. During this process, the CBCGDF received help from many enterprises, institutions, organizations, departments, and even individuals. They made the work more smoothly and orderly and guaranteed further development of relief operations. All members of the CBCGDF are filled with sincere admiration. With this letter, the CBCGDF would like to offer the highest respect and sincere thanks to these great groups and individuals.

“My heart is free of the stain as ice in a crystal vase (translated by Prof. Xu Yuanchong), Great students in the Great Lingnan.”

Dear College of Veterinary Medicine of South China Agricultural University (SCAU):

2019 will be a year that the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation's (CBCGDF) Pangolin action team will always remember. In this year, the CBCGDF was invited by the Wildlife Department of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration to participate in the rescue work of the living Javan Pangolin received by Guangdong Province in the special operation of "Guardian 2019" to combat the smuggling of endangered species. During the more than two months of rescue, rehabilitation, and rewilding process, the leaders, teachers, and students of the College of Veterinary Medicine SCAU provided selfless rescue and assistance, made the work go much smoother. It has also enabled our country to obtain a great deal of first-hand data and direct experience in Javan Pangolin rescue work and has also made many breakthroughs.

Looking back on all the work, we really faced a lot of difficulties. At the time when pangolins were rescued and the situation was critical, the students from the College of Veterinary Medicine SCAU rushed to respond to the work schedule as volunteers. At the time when pangolins were infected with bacteria cold and their health was rapidly deteriorating, those student-volunteers from the College of Veterinary Medicine SCAU took the samples to test pangolins. At the time when the CBCGDF's staffs went on a business trip, and pangolins had no one to take care of. It was also those volunteers taking the relay work and made the monitoring work of pangolin unaffected.

As healers and doctors, you have not only exquisite skills but also noble benevolence. As a school of teaching and educating people, you have nurtured a group of excellent students who are enthusiastic about social welfare and have a strong sense of social responsibility. The CBCGDF once again pays high tribute to the College of Veterinary Medicine South China Agricultural University (SCAU) and thanks to all the teachers and students who have offered selfless help in this work. We believe that China's wildlife rescue work will go further because of you all. We also wish your school will have a great number of talents under the guidance of this school-running concept.
