On June 9, 2017, the head of a group issued a Weibo (Chinese microblogging website) about " the world's best ingredients, Australian chilled Bluefin Tuna", and the resulting "Bluefin Tuna Event" raised a storm among at that time. When the event comes out, CBCGDF immediately acted the protective action. CBCGDF, along with other environmental organizations, had written several letters to domestic e-commerce platforms and discussed the follow-up issues with international large-scale environmental organizations such as CBD, CITES and TRAFFIC.CBCGDF also sent letters to an Australian Bluefin supplier, Beston Global Food, a large farm Mori Seafood and Australia Department of Fisheries. The letter described the importance and necessity of protecting rare and endangered species, asked them to promote the protection of rare and endangered species, and proposed to reduce the production of the highly endangered species Bluefin Tuna and its products.

Thanks to several conservation groups, including CBCGDF, JD removed its Bluefin Tuna products for just the third time after their Weibo on June 12th. To mark this day, protect and sustainable use of oceans and ocean resources and promote sustainable development, CBCGDF announced that the “World Bluefin Tuna Day” is set up on the June 12th of every year. In August 2015, the United Nations adopted the “2030 Global Sustainable Development Goals” to replace the “The Millennium Development Goals” set in 2000. In this development agenda jointly formulated by the international community, 17 main goals were set.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 12 and 14 clearly state: "Ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns" and "Protecting and sustainably using oceans and ocean resources for sustainable development". CBCGDF believes that ocean products processing and marketing companies and local governments need to work with environmental organizations to focus on the existing other fish and ocean products of sustainable development schemes, And advocate the consumers follow the sustainable business and lifestyle and protect ocean resources.

As an environmental social organization with more than 30 years' history, CBCGDF believes that the process of promoting biodiversity conservation and sustainable production and consumption needs the participation of companies, consumers, decision-makers, researchers, retailers, media and environmental social organizations.

The protection and sustainable use of oceans and ocean resources for sustainable development are also one of the social responsibilities of the citizens of the earth. We would like to call businesses to take action to protect biodiversity, promote sustainable development of resources and environment, and assume due social responsibility for achieving sustainable development goals.

CBCGDF hopes that the Bluefin Tuna as a critically endangered species will reach a turning point in its survival by the joint efforts of the whole society. " No life supposed to be extinct just because of mankind’s pursuit of yum!”
