6. Developing Information Technology to Help Ecology
At present, RiverEye, the first domestic anti-electric fishing application developed jointly by the Anti-electric Fishing Collaboration Center and the domestic software development team, has entered the final critical moment of launched and testing of products. This is the only application-oriented software specially used for anti-electric fishing in China so far, which makes up for the shortcomings of traditional reporting and evidence collection, as well as the lack of manpower of fishery supervision department, which makes it difficult to effectively supervise all rivers and lakes in the river basin within its jurisdiction. The Anti-electric Fishing Collaboration Center predicts that the software product will be officially launched before March 2019, which will help the protection of China's aquatic ecological resources.
We can better help fishermen fish in an orderly way. Fishermen are the direct beneficiaries. Secondly, more habitats of rare aquatic species can be better protected, and the harmonious development of biodiversity will benefit people. Thirdly, with the participation of non-governmental forces, the government has effectively solved the problem of insufficient government personnel and made up for the blind area of supervision, which benefits the government.
According to the data released by the Ministry of Agriculture last year, although the number of electric fishing cases increased by about 28%, the number of cases actually did not increase, but decreased. The reason is that, with the participation of the anti-electric fishing collaboration center, the patrol has been greatly increased. And the number of reported cases has increased, which exposes the problems that have not been found before, that is, the number of discovered cases has increased, and the number of cases uncovered will naturally increase. Through the long-time efforts of the Anti-electric Fishing Collaboration Center and from all walks of life, the phenomenon of electric fishes in daytime has been greatly curbed in many places, and the problem has been basically eliminated in some places.
While the Anti-Electric Fishing Center has made great achievements, it is faced with the problems of aquatic biology research and scientific testing, which requires huge manpower and material resources. Buying night vision equipment, boats, UAVs and other equipment for 51 workstations requires financial support. Therefore, the Anti-electric Fishing Collaboration Center hopes to get sponsorship from all walks of life or cooperate with other foundations to organize anti-electric fishing activities. The results of anti-electric fishing work is a continuous and long process.
