On Feb 20th, we wrote an article because Beijing Haidian's Sijiqing township government used plastic trees for decoration in front of their door. Why should plastic decoration become a fashion? That's totally unecessary waste of resources and new source of pollution. One day after CBCGDF posted the critical story and attracted public attention, the next day, I found that the trees were removed.(As shown in the last picture)
As Jinfeng Zhou always says, in the new era of ecological civilization, we need new kind of aesthetics: following the nature and saving resources. Plastic beauty like this must be discarded. (I also noticed dirty snows in a corner not far from the plastic trees, where a lot of plastic garbage hidden. How ironic.)
A thumbs-up for the Haidian government, for their open-mindedness and swift correction. Not all govs like them. In our experiences, sometimes, local governments deliberately harass, embarrass, and even retaliate against the whistleblowers. I hope other place can learn from Haidian's practice, which is the modern advanced governance model.
