On Plastic Book Wraps for Children's 2019 New Semester: Why Such a Weird Phenomenon Popular in China?
2019/2/25 19:40:00 本站

China's elementary schools' 2019 spring semester kicks off tomorrow. It's a routine for schools to ask students wrapping their new textbooks. The majority materials available on market are plastic book covers, which means, the education system is making huge plastic pollution.

Beijing has about 700,000 elementary school students; if every kid has 10 new books each, 7,000,000 plastic wraps are used per semester in this capital city alone.

I am very confused why new textbooks need additional plastic coats. Many such products are harmful kids health. Plus, that's totally unnecessary waste of money and pollution to environment. Why can't our schools adapt a natural-based solution?

Another example is that it's a required physical equipment for schools to build synthetic running tracks. Every year many cases of sickened children are reported. In 2016 the CBCGDF sued a beijing school which many kindergarteners were sickened, and this trend started to stop. Follow by China's Ministry of Education changed the rules and national standards for synthetic school running tracks.

We're going to write an official letter to Beijing Municipal Commission of Education urging them to change.
