CBCGDF Rep. Participated in the 2nd Sustainable Development Summit and Shared NGO's Experience in Promoting Ecological Civilization

During the 2nd Sustainable Development Summit held on December 1, a sub-forum on “Ecological Civilization and Sustainable Development” was held. The representative from CBCGDF was invited to the forum and participated in the roundtable discussion.

 

The sub-forum focused on issues such as the standard system for ecological civilization construction, natural resource management and ecological civilization construction, circular economy development, ecological civilization education and university green innovation. Relevant experts from relevant research institutes conducted a keynote sharing.

 

During the roundtable discussion, the CBCGDF representative and a number of representatives from relevant units discussed topics such as sustainable management of natural resources, resource efficiency and sustainable development, ecological civilization and sustainable development, and introduced relevant work involved with CBCGDF’s efforts. The work on promoting ecological civilization construction – such as biodiversity conservation (especially in cities) and green production lifestyles such as “Reducing plastics and picking up plastics”, “Walking your chopsticks”, advocating green conservation meetings and Green Bottle Campaign, against light pollution, public participation (promoting the protection of endangered species, anti-poaching, Oppose Electro Fishing, eating sustainable food) , community protected areas system (CCAfa, OECMs), environmental public interest litigation (EPIL, such as Tengger Desert ecological environment pollution, toxic running tracks, soil pollution, protection of old trees and immovable cultural relics, protection of endangered very small population plant habitats from hydropower station threats )and many more.

 

Biodiversity is about human and the life of the planet. In response to questions from the moderator and relevant guests about the recently closed CBD COP4, CBCGDF representative introduced the observations of the 2018 UN Biodiversity Conference last month and the vision toward the post-2020 Biodiversity Framework.
