Recently, the Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF, as the member of the CCICED policy research team, was invited to a special workshop on gender equality to "integrate gender dimensions into the work and outputs of the CCICED."

CCICED, the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, is a high-level international advisory body and a platform of exchange, enabling the international community to understand China and support China’s engagement with the world

The workshop is designed for CCICED policy research teams can better understand what these gender dimensions are and learn how to make sure this is reflected in the SPS research and recommendations.

Before the 2018 Annual General Meeting, the CCICED Executive Committee adopted a document entitled: "CCICED Guidance on Gender Equality".

Embracing gender equality is an essential part of global development, conservation, and environmental agenda. Best-practice sharing to empower both men and women should also be a significant step to empower people and truly ensure gender equality.

However, disregarding gender on the journey of conservation contributes to the mismanagement, unsustainable use and the loss of important traditional knowledge, skills, and experiences, in the end, aggravating poverty, inequality, and the increase of the loss of biodiversity.

CBCGDF has been stepping up its work on gender and biodiversity. CBCGDF encourages and supports female staff to access training in various workshops; in the meantime, CBCGDF is also open to hearing male perspectives to make sure equality lies within the two genders.
