(7) Protecting biodiversity and enhancing urban resilience to tackle climate change issues

Biodiversity conservation is an effective measure to improve the resilience of climate change. CBCGDF advocates the strengthening of biodiversity conservation in urban densely populated areas, advocates “let the wild grass grow”, “wild city” and biodiversity conservation on campus, and actively supports the construction of campus protected areas.

(8) Prevents and controls light pollution and protects dark and starry sky

Light pollution is closely related to climate change and cities with rising temperatures. CBCGDF has established a special starry sky committee to promote dark and starry sky protection and light pollution prevention.

(9) Organizes events related to climate change

CBCGDF hosted the 2015 China-US Air Purification Seminar to discuss solutions including air pollution sources and solutions, comprehensive air quality management systems, innovative technologies and products effective in controlling smog, and how the government established a sound legal system in smog management, and other hot topics. The event was attended by heavyweights such as scientists, experts and scholars in the field of world air pollution control including former US Vice President Al Gore, and explored solutions for air pollution with Chinese experts and scholars.

(10) Raises public awareness through environmental education

CBCGDF advocates " Walk your chopsticks" initiative. In recent years, the popularity of the take-away industry has also brought about pollution and waste problems that are increasingly rapidly. The "Walk your chopsticks" initiative aims to reduce the use of disposable chopsticks, thereby reducing deforestation to enhance biodiversity conservation and tackle climate change. Through the unremitting appeal of e-commerce platforms to give consumers the "green consumer rights" proposal, through the efforts of organizations including CBCGDF, finally in the summer of 2017, the take-out platforms such as Meituan were successfully implemented, that an option for the consumer to decide "do not use disposable cutlery" has been added to the APP.

Advocates "I love the forest, no longer collect rosewood" initiative. The consumption of rosewood in the past has always been considered a symbol of quality life. CBCGDF calls for not collecting and using rosewood (mahogany) products and changing consumption habits. Behind every piece of rosewood, is the disappearing forest, the disappearing life, and the growing crisis of climate change. Therefore, CBCGDF put forward the initiative of “I love forests, no longer collect rosewood”, apply to the relevant organizations to promote this initiative, apply to the China Association for Science and Technology to pay attention to the protection of rosewood, and sent a letter to the relevant State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television to stop broadcasting a tv programme on collection of rosewood furniture.

Hosting the "2018 World Ozone Day" theme event - In the fall of 2018, CBCGDF and related research institutes and university launched a theme event calling on youth to join the ranks of tackling climate change.

(11) Promotes enterprises to implement their social responsibility for environmental protection

As a member of UN Global Compact, CBCGDF actively promotes corporate social responsibility (CSR) by proposing “Ecological Belt and Road” initiative based on the “Belt and Road” initiative and actively promotes eco-environmental protection for enterprises and promotes the communication in the civil society along the “Belt and Road”.
