On November 14-15, the Secretary General of CBCGDF Dr. Zhou Jinfeng was invited to attend the H20 Global River Cities Summit, which was co-initiated by China Qiantang River International Cultural Festival Organizing Committee in Hangzhou City, the Summit Preparatory Committee, and was supported by CBCGDF.

During the Summit, representatives from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, visited Dr. Zhou. They expressed their expectation that CBCGDF will host a workshop in Beijing related to the theme of ecological civilization, green civilization and sustainable development, with the aim of making full discussions and exchanges on issues related to biological and environmental protection. The two sides initially drafted this workshop to be held from January 22-25, 2019, when the mayor of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, will lead the relevant entrepreneurs and government delegations to visit.

CBCGDF has long been committed to biodiversity conservation and green development and has made a series of meaningful innovations and practices in the protection of endangered species, the supervision and improvement of environmental pollution, and the green transformation of China's economy. Based on this, the recommendations of the representatives from Amsterdam are very much recognized. Dr. Zhou expressed his welcome to domestic interested entrepreneurs and local governments to sign up for the workshop.

On the day of the Summit, Dr. Zhou spoke highly of its success. He believes that through this Summit, a platform for international dialogue and communication has been established, especially in the development of the cities by the rivers. “In this forum, green development and sustainable development have been widely shared as a common concern.” He said that this forum is also a process of participating in the Community of Shared Future for the Mankind to discuss, to learn and advocate, and is a part of China’s participation in the process of global ecological governance, therefore, the global experience and sustainable development wisdom generated through this Summit collision is very worthy of attention.

At the same time, Dr. Zhou also made several recommendations for the H20 Summit. He hopes that this summit form will play a better and more effective role in the international exchange platform in the future. The specific recommendations are as follows: First, he hopes that the form of this Summit will be institutionalized and long-term to continuously promote the sustainable development of domestic cities. Second, it will enrich and expand the content of Summit, such as from a core node, an important exchange meeting to start, and to expand into forms of mutual visits, exhibitions, sub-forums, etc. Third, it is recommended to hold the Global River Cities Social Organization Forum, the University Student Forum, the Research Forum, and even the Global River Cities Art Exhibition, etc., makes the entire Summit a more complete ecological life, make it thicker, richer and more comprehensive. After all, there are many deep excavations in terms of ecological civilization, green development and the culture of global river cities content.

At present, CBCGDF has proposed to the relevant parties in Amsterdam and the Hangzhou City to jointly host the workshop on environmental protection and green development issues next year, which has been recognized and welcomed by the other side. It is expected that during the workshop on ecological civilization and green development in Beijing in January 22-25 next year, an event related to the Global River Cities will be held, and it is hoped that organizations and individuals concerned with the sustainable development of urban rivers at home and abroad will continue to participate in exploring and promoting the development of ecological civilization and green economy in China.
