The Error Report of the Secretary General of CBCGDF: Often Sleeping at the Airport, Sooner or Later will Make a Big Mistake!

In CBCGDF, there is an unwritten rule: every employee's mistakes in their daily work need to form an error report immediately after it happened, aiming to alert the wrong person self. At the same time, other colleagues also learn from the experience and lessons of the work, thereby improving the overall working level of CBCGDF.

“Let every mistake produce positive value in future work, provide guidance for the colleagues afterwards, and avoid repeating the same mistakes.” Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary General of CBCGDF often said this to CBCGDF staff.

On the evening of November 17, Dr. Zhou sent a personal error report on the internal work group chat of CBCGDF. It turned out that Dr. Zhou had a conference call with CBCGDF's adviser Dr. Rajendra Shende after arriving at the airport at 10:30 on the evening of the 17th. He narrated the relevant work in detail and arranged several other emergency items.

This time, Dr. Zhou went to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt to attend the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP14). During the meeting, CBCGDF will co-host two Side Events with international experts and colleagues, and an important press conference, the task is pretty crucial. Before Dr. Zhou wanted to check the PPTs for the three events, he closed his eyes slightly and took a nap. Unexpectedly, when he suddenly woke up, the time was already 0:30 on the 18th, and the departure time of his flight was 0:50.

Dr. Zhou rushed to the boarding gate and found that the plane at the gate was still there. The outer door was just closed, and the cabin door had not been closed yet, but the ground crew told him that the customs inspection had been completed and then boarded. It will delay the entire flight. This plane was obviously unable to catch. However, according to the internal regulations of CBCGDF, the economic loss caused by the missed flight due to personal reasons can only be borne by the individual. Although for the sake of cost savings, this trip to Egypt has already required three transfers to arrive.

In his personal error report, Dr. Zhou pointed out: Too tired, often slumber on the road and at the airport, it is inevitable that such things will happen, I hope you must pay attention to avoid in the future! "I often take a nap at the airport and on the road, worrying that there will be some other accident sooner or later. Excessive fatigue is not a correct way of working." Dr. Zhou concluded afterwards.

In order not to delay the trip, Dr. Zhou re-booked the flight at 2 am that night, and finally arrived at Sharm el-Sheikh at 8:40 am on November 19 to secure the 19-21 meeting that was originally planned to participate. Interestingly, the ticket purchased after the adjustment is lower than the original price, but the passenger is more tired, and the cost of the whole journey is more economical.
