Lately, CBCGDF representative Zhou Qi paid his third visit to International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) office in Sri Lanka and met Dr. Ananda Mallawatantri to further discuss arrangements of China-Sri Lanka Biodiversity Conference.

China- Sri Lanka Biodiversity Conference, sponsored by IUCN and co-hosted by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), Lanka-China Economic & Cultural Council (LCECC) and China Chamber of Commerce, will represent the first forum regarding biodiversity and environmental protection for the two sides. In their discussion, the representative brought up suggestions from China that the theme may cover four topics on investment policy and environmental protection requirements of the Chinese administrations and enterprises in China, reduction of pollution brought from China’s investment and Chinese corporates in Sri Lanka, how to address water and soil problems (such as drought) in Sri Lanka, and environmental management of engineering construction (such as road repairing, ports and power plants building, etc.)

In their dialogue, the CBCGDF representative expressed his willingness to push for the preparation work of the conference with their joint efforts. And again he told Dr. Ananda Mallawatantri that the CBCGDF regards the China- Sri Lanka Biodiversity Conference as a brilliant chance to enhance the friendship between the two countries and contribute in environmental protection.

Dr. Anande Mallawantri said he will spare no efforts in cooperating with CBCGDF and will join hands to make a success. The IUCN office will invite officials, scholars, experts and key environmental protection organizations of Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, CBCGDF will also invite domestic environmental experts and environment-friendly enterprises to establish a platform for exchanges. By then, staff of Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, Chinese enterprises and Chinese travel agencies in Sri Lanka will be also warmly invited by the both sides.

They also further their talks on procedures, topics and speakers in hope to effective promote environmental protection and together facilitate more exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

CBCGDF has always stayed its committed to President Xi Jinping’s important instructions of ecological Belt and Road Initiative and ecological civilization development and responded to the call of Striving to build a global scientific and technological power so as to enhance China’s influence and win more say in international technological community. In achieving this goal, the CBCGDF has been dedicated to the development of ecological Belt and Road Initiative and biodiversity conservation and facilitated the building of platforms for international exchanges. In June, 2018, Africa-China Wildlife Conservation Conference held by multiple parties including CBCGDF was made a great complete and brought huge influence, which demonstrates CBCGDF’s efforts in promoting ecological Belt and Road Initiative and reinforcing ties of nations, as well as the importance of strengthening international cooperation and connectivity.
