What is H20?

H20, the Global River City Summit, will bring together 20 cities around the world with experiences or plans to explore the wisdom and experiences of sustainable development. The summit aims to build a river culture brand, to promote international cooperation among cities, to drive innovation and green development, and to lead the development of eco-friendly modern cities in the world, especially in developing countries, in order to promote the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) contribute to the power of the city.

Why Hangzhou is the city launches the H20?

Hangzhou, China was the host city of the eleventh summit of the G20 leaders in 2016. And the city was built according to the Qiantang River. Last year, the Hangzhou Municipal Government proposed a major strategy of "supporting the development of the river". We are aware that the water circulation and convenient transportation brought by the rivers have brought great development benefits to some cities with rivers that are mature and experienced. However, we also realized that some cities face ecological crises and natural disasters because of their own rivers, and they are faced with the task of strengthening environmental governance and sustainable development. With the task of strengthening environmental governance and sustainable development; At the same time, we are more aware that the developing cities with rivers have the common problems in building bridges and waterways, flood control, sustainable development, cultural tourism, etc., and they need wisdom and communication. To this end, the People's Government of Hangzhou, China has decided to start as a sponsoring city and, with the support of relevant international organizations, uniting 20 cities with rivers around the world to promote and hold a global summit of cities for river development.
