In a recent interview with Ukrainian media in the capital, Kiev, Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF has made response to the relationship between investment and ecological environment under the framework of Belt and Road and meanwhile, shared the relevant working experiences of the CBCGDF.

Zhou Jinfeng pointed out that, China’s Belt and Road Initiative, conducive to common development and prosperity, serves as a path of cooperation and win-win scenario. While strong supporting Belt and Road investment, we must take ecological investment into full consideration. That means we must strike a balance between conservation and development. That is to say, we seek to improve local people’s livelihood and also need to conserve ecological environment in the community.

He also introduced that biodiversity and ecology conservation is a crucial part of the initiative and ecological civilization was recently included in China’s constitution. He stressed that Belt and Road Initiative is in essence a green silk road. Chinese enterprises, while cooperating with countries along the road developing infrastructure and industrial investment, must give more supports to local economic development, employment and improvement in people’s livelihood. It is as well important for them to take the social responsibility that requires them to well protect biodiversity and ecological environment. Furthermore, he also emphasized the importance of sustainable livelihood, community engagement, and connectivity of different cultures and regions.
