In October, the Secretary General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Dr. Jinfeng Zhou and the delegation led by him attended the 13th conference of the International Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar CoP13) held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. This trip to Ramsar CoP13 is extremely thought-provoking and is of tremendous significance for CBCGDF to conceive its future blueprint for natural biodiversity conservation as a leading figure at the global stage of environmental protection.

At Ramsar CoP13, Dr. Zhou held a series of insightful meetings with delegates from across the world to exchange present achievements in green development and opinions of areas in need of continuing improvement. One meeting was with the Ramsar representative from Ghana, South Africa. “This talk is quite inspiring in terms of what we still can do in the future”, remarked Dr. Zhou. According to the Ghana representative, there still remains much to be done in the area of environmental protection in Ghana. Take China as an example, the representative from Ghana at the Ramsar CoP13 confessed to Dr. Zhou that, as an inter-government organization, their current efforts of engaging support from China in environmental protections are still restricted to their contact with the local Chinese representative offices, without further interactions with a profoundly wider network composed mainly of non-government parities such as private Chinese entrepreneurs and social non-profitable government organizations. In fact, the latter network of environmental protection forces is now playing a much prominent role in the endeavor of preserving biodiversity and green development worldwide.

China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), with its persistent devotion to the constructing of an environmentally-friendly ecosystem in the past 33 years, has so far built up an extensive cross-country network of volunteers and social organizations. For instance, the CBCGDF youth representative was selected as one of the participants out of hundreds of young talents across Asia for the Global Youth Biodiversity Network Capacity Building Workshop 2018 held in Telangana Forest Department, Hyderabad, India. This implies that all these resources can be more deeply exploited and become the basis of CBCGDF’s forthcoming endeavor of involving individuals and social groups as diverse and comprehensive as possible in environmental protection, which is undoubtedly of monumental value for humanity and the ecosystem as a whole.
