Shayin CAI, the person in charge of the proposal of the ACTAsia  Fund of the CBCDFG insisted on closing the existing commercial tiger farms

The 2022 "Two Sessions" proposal  meeting of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCDGF)was successfully held online and offline on January 21,2022. The proposal meeting invited more than 10 representatives and members of the national Two Sessions to participate in the online meeting.

Shayin CAI, the person in charge of the proposal of the ACTAsia  Fund of the CBCDFG insisted on closing the existing commercial tiger farms in the year of the tiger. She said that the global number of tigers has fallen sharply in the past 120 years, so that the species is on the verge of extinction. The red list of endangered species published in 2015 estimated that there are about 20 wild tigers in China. In 2018, experts of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration estimated that 55 wild tigers lived on the Sino-Russian border.

She pointed out that in academic and scientific researches, between governments and international conventions, there has long been a consensus on many injuries to the wild tigers brought by commercial tiger farms and organ trading. 2022 is the year of the tiger in China. The New International Tiger Conservation Forum will also be held in Russian on September. She strongly suggested that China can take this opportunity to become an important promoter of global tiger protection, and speed up the process of tiger protection by banning the establishment of tiger farms, eliminating the market demand for tiger organ products and eliminating hunting. We called on the National Forestry and Grassland Administration  and other relevant departments to adopt zero demand and zero killingstrategy,to close commercial tiger farms as soon as possible, then to strengthen the publicity and education of consumers and local competent units, and to destroy all tiger organs and products held by the public and private.
