Peter Bogner Awarded with "2020 Research Leader of the Year" on the 15th Annual Meeting of the International Conferences on Genomics

Peter Bogner, President of the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID), was awarded the "2020 Research Leader of the Year" at The 15th Annual Meeting of the International Conferences on Genomics which was held on Oct. 26th in Wuhan, China.

 

"He obtained a world-class reputation. He led an open data-sharing mechanism that ensures a global collaboration of experts in their respective disciplines working together to facilitate rapid access to data of priority pathogens. Under his excellent leadership, GISAID became a remarkable platform after the coronavirus outbreak, which is a key to the unprecedented speed enabling real-time progress in the understanding of the virus and in fighting against the pandemic." Said Prof. Huanming Yang, chairman of the ICG-15.

 

Peter Bogner was among the five elite researchers who received this award of 2020 Research Leader of the Year.

 

Since its inauguration in 2006, ICG has established itself as a premier conference featuring cutting-edge 'omics' technologies and idea-sharing. Starting in 2020, ICG adopts the Green Meeting Index to ensure sustainability.

 

This year's conference was jointly organized by scientific entities including the BGI, China Biodiversity Conservation, and Green Development Foundation, China Science Writers Association, Chinese Society For Urban Studies, Chinese Society of Biotechnology, The Genetics Society of China, Peking University's Medical Department and Wuhan University. With the theme of "Omics and Human Health", ICG-15 has 22 sessions, with more than 160 scientists from 21 countries who brought a top academic feast through online and offline participants.
