In the era of ecological civilization, sustainable development is needed, and human survival, balance, and habitat protection are needed. We need legitimate and reasonable consumption, instead of irresponsibly establishing the pleasure of consumption based on damage to the ecological environment and habitats.
Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) pointed out that for industrial civilization to move towards ecological civilization, the alienation of consumption is the first issue that needs to be overcome. Therefore, the alienation of consumption should be opposed, to promote the comprehensive conservation and recycling of resources, advocate a simple and moderate, green and low-carbon lifestyle, consume on demand and avoid waste.
Human beings entered the sixth biological extinction, and the earth is facing a lot of ecological and environmental pressures. This is closely related to the rapid development of human beings since the era of industrial civilization and the unbridled consumption and destruction of environmental resources. The sixth biological extinction is also the only one caused by human beings. It is called "Anthropocene" by some scientists. Everything happens because of people and changes because of people. We put forward a human-based solution (HbS) for this, which means that each of us can participate in the process of resolving the current crisis, and the efforts of each of us can constitute the only solution to these difficulties now.
People are the root of all problems. The significance and energy of human beings for environmental protection mobilization is huge, and only one person's efforts can produce no small energy. Therefore, real environmental solutions should follow the "people-oriented" and human-based thinking, and this thinking is the foundation of protecting nature and sustainable development.
Going all out to change people's ideology, mobilize more people to participate, and strengthen education for young people is the most urgent task for protecting the environment and ecology at present.
Biodiversity conservation needs to be mainstreamed, it needs to be integrated into urbanization planning and all aspects of ecological civilization construction. Civil society should be encouraged to participate in biodiversity conservation; biodiversity education needs to be incorporated into the education of the younger generation, and children, adolescents, and school student groups are encouraged to work together to save humanity's habitat, the planet.
The "Human-based Solution" (HbS), climate crisis and biodiversity loss crisis are all caused by human beings. Only when human beings make changes, can they protect habitats and change the future ecological environment. Changes can be made in everything from food and clothing to the way people travel to help protect and promote legislation. For example, when selecting food or processing plants, we need to see whether the company complies with the principles of biodiversity conservation. Human beings are powerful, and we believe that if we all make changes together, even if it's not a written law, the collective change will prompt businesses to make changes accordingly.
