The charity has become one of the most important channels for blockchain.

On January 13, 2020, the FAT (Finance and Technology) Summit and Blockchain Awards was held in Beijing. The event focuses on several topics including public blockchain, application, assets, and philanthropy. Speakers shared views with participants through looking back and predicting the trend of the new year.

At the private session “Blockchain and Charity” co-hosted by Odaily and the Youth Lead Fund of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), experienced practitioners discussed to develop public trust in the charitable sector with the assistance of blockchain. Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF presided over the session. Participants are Li Xi, Co-founder of Qingsong Group, Athna YU of Blockchain Charity Foundation, He Qiying, Director of Blockchain Business of BTG Homeinns, Li Shisen, Product Manager of blockchain products of BGI, Zhang Zhaofeng, Founder of Temperature Sensing Platform, and Luo Qionghua, Director of Operations of Ant Financial Services Group.

Participants introduced their exploration of blockchain technology and then carried out further discussion on how to improve the opaqueness of the charity industry.

According to the participants, the most widely adopted mode to increase the transparency of public interest activities is to take advantage of blockchain, making donations traceable. Moreover, blockchain contributes to lowering the cost of charitable organizations and effectively allocating the donations.

With the development of technologies and people's exploration of the intersection of blockchain and public welfare, the influence of public interest organizations will constantly extend.

Just as Zhou Jinfeng has mentioned, there is not too much exploration in this area, and we have great opportunities and solutions. We should enhance communication and work together to make it hit.

Ms. Song Ting, Deputy Executive Director of the Youth Leader Fund, was award the prize of Excellent Blockchain Practitioner and gave an acceptance speech.

Song says the most significant feature of digital technology lies in its ubiquitousness. Goodwill should be the overwhelming consensus in this changing world as more practices and actions are required to help the society to understand the goodness embedded in science and technology. We should tighten the safety belt for the fast-growing information technology, and we also hope to contribute to this industry.
