“Yangtze River Delta Integrated Ecological Environment and Rule of Law Forum” was Held in Shanghai | Ma Yong Attended and Delivered a Keynote

To jointly promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta area and explore the construction of ecological environment rule of law in the context of the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, on November 17th, the "Yangtze River Delta Integrated Ecological Environment and Rule of Law Forum - and Shanghai Law Society Environmental and Resource Protection Law Research Association 2019 Annual Meeting" was held in Fudan University, Shanghai. More than 250 people from the Environmental and Resource Protection Committee of the National People's Congress, the Supreme People's Court, the Ministry of Ecological Environment, Courts in the Yangtze River Delta region, procuratorates, environmental law enforcement departments, universities, professional environmental law teams, and various enterprises attended the forum. Mr. Ma Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), was invited to attend and make a keynote speech.

 

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Prof. Zhang Zitai of Fudan University, he is also the president of Shanghai Law Society Environmental and Resource Protection Law Research Association; Tao Jianping, Deputy Attorney General of Shanghai People’s Procuratorate, presided over the keynote speech of the meeting. As one of the keynote speakers, Ma Yong combed the progress of environmental public interest litigation in combination with the judicial practice of environmental public interest litigation and put forward some suggestions on the current problems.

 

After the keynote speech, Zhou Ke, Professor of Law School of the Renmin University of China, and Han Deqiang, director of Criminal Administration and Justice Department of Supreme Court Law Institute, made brilliant and profound comments on the keynote speech.

 

In the afternoon, the forum was divided into two parts: “Environmental Public Interest Litigation and Ecological Damage Compensation under the Integration of Yangtze River Delta” and “Environmental Law Enforcement, Justice and Law-abiding under the Integration of Yangtze River Delta”, which were held at the same time in the branch venue. These two sessions were presided over by Huangfu Changcheng, deputy director of the Research Office of Shanghai People’s Procuratorate, and Li Chuanxuan, deputy dean and associate professor of Law School of Fudan University. Wu Weixing, Professor of the School of Law of Nanjing University, and Wang Junqi, vice president of Shanghai Law Society Environmental and Resource Protection Law Research Association, commented on the keynote speech.

 

The summary and closing ceremony of the forum was presided over by Gao Xiaoyi, Deputy Attorney General of the Third Branch of Shanghai Municipal People’s Procuratorate. Zhang Huihong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Law School of East China Normal University, and Wu Rongliang, director of the Environmental Protection Committee of Shanghai Lawyers Association, paid a closing tribute. Zhang Zitai, Qi Xin, Li Yisong and Jiang Shuanglin delivered closing remarks as representatives of the "Yangtze River Delta Integrated Ecological Environment and Rule of Law Think Tank Alliance". So far, the "Yangtze River Delta Integrated Ecological Environment and Rule of Law Forum - and Shanghai Law Society Environmental and Resource Protection Law Research Association 2019 Annual Meeting" has come to a successful conclusion.
