CBCGDF BASE holds a group meeting on synthetic biology

On October 8, the first workday after the National Day holiday, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation Biology and Science Ethics (CBCGDF BASE) Working Committee held a group meeting in regard of the latest international trend of synthetic biology, the release of the gene-driven organism in the environment and scientific ethics issues. The meeting also paid attention to the possible items at the upcoming 15th meeting of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15).

 

Meeting Background:

 

An international institution writes to IUCN members to get support on the viewpoint that the risk to biosafety and biodiversity should be carefully and fully evaluated before the irreversible release of modified living or gene-driven organisms.
