On September 27, the International Office of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) held an internal working meeting and discussed the work of continuing to promote sustainable fashion, participating in global environmental governance, and disseminating ecological civilization internationally. Workers summarized their work in September and discussed the international work plan and activities for October.

Secretary-General Zhou Jinfeng affirmed the achievements of the CBCGDF's International Office, especially the proposal made to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity at the end of last year to make "ecological civilization" into the theme of its fifteenth Conference of the Parties (CBD COP15). This initiative has been formally adopted by the United Nations. In the early morning of September 6, 2019, the United Nations officially declared that the theme of the 2020 UN Convention on Biological Diversity was "Ecological Civilization-Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth". This is the first global conference of the United Nations with the theme of "ecological civilization", which highlights the world significance of Xi Jinping's ecological civilization thought. This is also a typical case of Chinese social organizations "going out" to promote the co-construction of global ecological civilization.

Zhou Jinfeng pointed out that to respond to General Secretary Xi's call for "deep participation in global environmental governance" and promote global plan to build an ecological civilization, the CBCGDF should be more active in "going out" to tell good stories about China and spread good voices of China.

The head of international work looked forward to the work in October. The meeting focused on the discussion of the program of activities such as "Eco-civilization" thematic series lectures to be held by representatives of CBCGDF at Yale University and other famous universities in the United States. It also discussed the upcoming theme sharing in Berlin, Germany, as well as the World Gene Convention and the International Conference on Woman Scientists.

In response to several blockbuster reports recently issued by the United Nations and the latest trends in sustainable fashion, Zhou Jinfeng pointed out that the fashion industry is an industry with a high carbon footprint, accounting for 8% of global carbon emissions, more than aviation and shipping combined. China is a very important market for high-end fashion products in the world, with a large customer base. The fashion industry needs to develop with high quality and eco-friendly. We should advocate the concept of sustainable development of fashion and promote a green lifestyle and green consumption.
