Recently, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) made a proposal to the relevant departments, hoping that in the logo design of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD CoP15), in order to show the achievements of biodiversity conservation in China, some important and rare species such as acer pentaphyllum, pangolins, spotted seals, great bustards and relic gulls should be added into the logo design.

In 2020, Kunming will officially host the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD CoP15) to show China's continued efforts in biodiversity conservation to all over the world. All countries concerned about the ecological health and sustainable development of the earth will jointly explore the goal and path of global biodiversity conservation after 2020. The conference attracts worldwide attention. By telling the good stories about biodiversity conservation in China through important species, the CBCGDF suggests that relevant departments should add such factors as acer pentaphyllum, pangolin, spotted seal, great bustard and relic gull into the logo design of the CBD CoP15.

Since these key rare species not only belong to the national protected rare species in China, but also are the important species that the international community pays close attention to. In recent years, thanks to the joint efforts of government departments and civil organizations, great progress has been made in the protection of these five rare species and their ecological environment. If these species can be included in the CBD CoP15’s logo design, it will affect more individuals, groups and enterprises to join the work of biodiversity conservation.
