About CCAfa

Community conservation Areas (CCAfa) is an unique protected area mechanism to protect fragmented habitats. Launched in 2016 by the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), it's a type of OCEMs, and it turned out to be very effective in gathering grassroot and public participation in biodiversity conservation. With the aim of conducting targeted approaches to protect endangered species of fauna and flora, historical relics, cultural sites, etc, there are 110 CCAfa around China by March 2019.
