The theme for 22 March the World Water Day 2019 is ‘Leaving no one behind’. On this day, 64 teachers and students from Kutuo Elementary School caught up with the “team”.
On March 22nd, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Water Safety Fund teamed up with the Drive to Green public welfare platform to bring the charity to the teachers and students of Kutuo Elementary School in Gansu Province to complete "The Promise of a Glass of Water" - the Kutuo Elementary School Water Safety Project: Two newly constructed water tanks with a capacity of 30 cubic meters have been officially completed, and a new water purification equipment is also in place. From this day on, the 57 students and 7 teachers in the school not only have hot water that can be conveniently and quickly used in winter, but also the quality and quantity of drinking water are well protected.
This is the first campus water safety project that the CBCGDF Water Safety Fund achieved in northwestern China in 2019. The difficulty of drinking water at Kutuo Elementary School was very worrying as early as the project investigation period. This elementary school is located in Baicaoyuan Town, Huining County, Gansu Province. It faces the loess high slope and is surrounded by mountains and gullies. Public transportation from the town to the school has not yet been opened. The precipitation here is scarce, and the annual precipitation is only between 180-450 mm. The teachers and students of the school mainly rely on two old otters, and one of them has been used for more than 30 years and can no longer be used.

In today's world, billions of people still live in environments that lack safe water.
From 2017 to 2018, the CBCGDF Water Safety Fund has provided safe water to more than 20 schools, although the number is just a tip of the iceberg that the schools on the list are in need of having access to drinking water. As the theme of “Leaving no one behind”, the CBCGDF Water Safety Fund is gathering more and more power from China to drive more public attention and participation in this project, helping the schools who are seriously lack of water, one by one, to solve the drinking water issues.
